Artist’s publications, Performance, Conversation

As part of the exhibitions Encontro Inesperado by Diogo Nogueira and Uma Cerveja no Inferno, with Carla Castiajo, Dylan Silva, Inês Coelho, João Paulo Balsini, Pedro Moreira, Raul Macedo, and Susana Chiocca, Galeria Graça Brandão will be presenting, together with the STET bookshop, on February 17 an exhibition of artists’ publications, the performance “introspeção” by António Lago, and a conversation between the artists and critic Ricardo Ramos Gonçalves.

Bringing together painting, sculpture, drawing, film, artist’s publications, and performance, Manuel Santos Maia’s curatorial project for Galeria Graça Brandão explores the idea of polyphonic citizenship in the celebration of freedom.

The writing of the self, the suspension of censorship, and the interpellation of the body contribute to the dismantling of dominant ideologies and celebrate the unforeseen and vital experience of human relationships.

The dialog between the various representations encourages pleasure, passions, and the power of “loving,” which transcends the particular of the human and expands to all forms of otherness in the complex horizon of contemporary culture.
