Dylan Silva

Dylan Silva

Dylan Silva was born in Switzerland in 1993 and studied Multimedia at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, the city where he currently lives. Today, he is a visual artist and co-founder of Senhora Presidente, a gallery dedicated to painting, illustration, ceramics, photography, and publishing, as well as of Sábado-Feira, a fair focused on diverse art forms.

His work spans various techniques, such as watercolor painting, oil painting, and sculpture. In his most recent projects—driven by the morphology of the human body—he creates hybrid figures that emerge from a place in memory, like a peninsula appearing in the topography of the images he has developed over the years. In essence, he explores archetypes of the human body that inhabit his memory. These fragments, drawn from his imagination, are mutations of other bodies, shapes, and places—creatures in a geographical accident that intermittently connect with the real world and their surroundings. Through these connections, he finds the opportunity to materialize these fragments into tangible forms, giving them a new dimension and allowing them to acquire a different self.

In a spontaneous process, he develops an almost visceral relationship with these simultaneously human and post-human beings, exploring the space between them. Dylan builds an almost intimate relationship, from which an identity deeply tied to nature emerges, where the behavioral traits of these beings coexist with their aesthetic. The distortion of human figures becomes a powerful tool to express the complexity of emotions—and perhaps to reveal hidden aspects of the human mind.
