Andrea Fiamenghi – “O caminho faz-se andando”

Andrea Fiamenghi

Andrea Fiamenghi’s photographs go beyond the simple representation of images. His work allows us to penetrate the Sacred, without unveiling it, but rather communing with it. The artist leaves the scene and gives way to the viewer, so that in their contemplation they come face to face with the possibility of becoming part of a unity: the Work.

Her photographs are part of the permanent collection of the Museu Afro Brasil Emanoel Araújo in São Paulo, MAR – Museu de Arte do Rio de Janeiro and the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes in Rio de Janeiro.

“O caminho faz-se caminhando”

In a dialogue between the dark and the dramatic, Andrea Fiamenghi’s selection of photographs tells us that in the time it takes to get somewhere, there is always life! In the distances, in the paths, in the silence or in the rapid noise of change, the way is made by walking.

Through his scenic constructions, which give the landscapes a dreamlike and fantastical tone, it is possible to feel nostalgia and universality in the sensation of travelling. The path is made by walking, the path is the present moment, the path is the past we have travelled so far and the future that is to be.

Andrea plunges deep within herself, into silence, voice, roads and stories with images that translate her journey over 20 years of photography. In her work you can see classic compositions such as the Etna volcano in Taormina, the English ocean on Brighton beach and even a Bahian character as a celebration of black culture in Brazil, in honour of a great friend on her journey, Emanoel Araújo.
